Mary Ann Sanders Potter, age 83, of 511 Stout Road passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, June 17, 2019, at the Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Potter is survived by four sisters: Lucy Reece of Mountain City, Mildred Ward, and Linda Conville both of Zionville, and Sylvia Hammons and husband Bill of Mountain City, and sister - in - law Tula Wilson of Mountain City: nephew Barton Shane Reece and wife Rita, niece Heidi Kerley and husband Don: great - nieces Keesha Rhudy and husband Jesse, and Christie Joiner and husband Steve, and great nephew Samuel Kerley: nephews- in - law - Keith Wilson and wife Nancy, Danny Ray Wilson and wife Janet, David Kirby and wife Elaine, and nieces- in- law Lula Warren and husband Jimmy, Earline Lay, Willa Graye Adams and husband Pete, Bitha Lou Pardue and husband Billy Ray, and Kathy McFadden: several cherished great nieces and nephews and great nephews as well. She is also survived by her dear friend and next-door neighbor Mrs. June Williams.
In addition to her parents, Tom and Juanita Sanders, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, W.A. “Dub” Potter, Jr: brothers-in-law Elwood Wilson and Junior Ward: sister-in-law Nell Potter Kirby Snyder: brother-in-law Billy Joe and wife Shirley Potter: and nephew Thomas Lane Reece.
Mary Ann was born in Watauga County, N.C. April 4 th , 1936 and was a graduate of Cove Creek High School in Sugar Grove, N.C. She was a Christian and faithful member of the Antioch Baptist Church where she taught the children’s class for 40+ years. She also volunteered for Hale Ministries. Mary took great pride in her flowers and could often be seen be out weeding the beds and enjoying them.
A graveside service and burial will be conducted at 2 pm on Friday June 21, 2019, in Sunset Memorial Park Mountain City, TN with Minister Derek Wilson officiating.
