Obituary for Mary "Tom" Donnelly Smith Mary "Tom" Donnelly Smith, age 97, of 794 Circle Drive, Mountain City passed away Monday December 27, 2004 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born December 31, 1906 to the late Thomas Richard and Cora Donnelly. She was preceded also by five siblings, Thedford Donnelly, Keith Donnelly, Harry Donnelly, Lowry Donnelly, Lucy Monty and her nephew Dr. Thomas E. Donnelly. Mrs. Donnelly attended Tennessee Weslyn and East Tennessee State University and taught school in the area for 13 years before moving to Washington, D.C. in 1941 to work for the War Department. She married her beloved husband Hobart Smith in 1946 who preceded her in death in 1993. She was a Member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the retired Teachers Associaiton, the Johnson County Historical Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her sister-in-law: Margaret Donnelly of La Habra Heights, California; niece-in-law, Mary Frances Donnelly, Roanoke, VA nephew; John Ted Donnelly, California; great nephew; Tom Donnelly, Sterling, VA great niece, Catherine Donnelly Smithson, Newport News, VA great great nephews, Michael Donnelly and Cameron Smithson and great great niece Catie Donnelly. A committal services will be held 11:00 A. M. Wednesday from the Henson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Rye to officiate. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery Friends may call at the residence, 794 Circle Drive, Mountain City at anytime. Henson Funeral Home is serving the Smith family.
