Mary Jane Taylor, age 88, of 327 Brown Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the Watauga Medical Center. She was born on June 2, 1917 in Shouns, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Sherman and Ella Curd Payne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Taylor; one sister, Verna Mae "Betty" Payne Roark and one brother, Dana Payne. She was a homemaker and mother. Mary Jane was a member of the Hammons Chapel Christian Church. She enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time with them and her many special friends. She is survived by her children: Linda and Walter Simcox, Danny and Brenda Taylor, Jack and Reba Taylor and Betty and Bill Murphy, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mary Jane Taylor will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Mike Smith and Rev. Lonnie Denney to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the Hammons Chapel Christian Church Choir. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to Services, at the Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2006 from the Taylor Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Jim Miller, David Miller, Steve Payne, Jeff Pardue, Rick Curd and Kevin Proffitt. Family, Pallbearers and Friends are asked to assemble by 9:45 a.m. at the Cemetery for Interment. At other times, friends may call at the residence.
