Matthew Matt Douglas Upright

Matthew "Matt" Douglas Upright, age 15, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, September 10, 2005. He was born on November 9, 1989 in Hickory, North Carolina to Jerry and Judi Upright, of Mountain City, Tennessee. Matthew was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports, as well as construction work. He was a Greenbay Packers fan, also. His most inspiring love was his desire to tell others of his Savior, Jesus Christ. Matthew attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by four brothers: Joshua, Jared, Joseph and Jeremy Upright, all of the home; two sisters: Emilee and Mollie Upright, also of the home; maternal grandparents, Jack and Betty Norris, of Boone, N.C. and paternal grandmother, Marjorie Upright of Liberty, N.C.; two uncles: Scott Norris and wife Felecia of Vilas, N.C. and Kenneth Upright and wife Connie of Richmond, VA; two aunts: Jama Halvorsen and husband Erik of Boone, N.C. and Jackie Norris of Hickory, N.C. and one great, great uncle, Jack Norris, of Boone, N.C. Numerous cousins, family members and friends also survive. Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fred H. Upright. Funeral Services for Matthew Douglas Upright will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve McCready and Pastor Bill Morefield to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2005 from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Wayne Johnson, Scotty Norris, Adam Johnson, Cory Meadows, Benny Campbell and Josh Upright. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dokken Swift and Jared Upright. The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to Services, at the Church. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 2464 Waters Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
