Michael H. Maney, age 64, of 382 Dry Stone Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 2nd, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Boston, Massachusetts, he was born September 26, 1939 to the late Henry and Helen Burbirdge. Michael was a Graduate of University of Florida where he earned a degree in Pharmacology. He had lived most of his life in Florida where he was a Registered Pharmacist, but had found happiness in Mountain City in 2001. Michael enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, tennis and golf. He was a member of Toastmaster. He was of the Catholic Faith. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his twin sister; Marilyn Volmer. He is survived by three daughters: Debbie Ashley and husband Phil, Terry Lopez and husband Dennis, all of Tampa, Florida, Cherie Sundberg and husband Kris of Howell, Michigan, one son; Michael Maney of Los Angeles, California, two sisters; Patty Monahan of Lakeville, Massachusetts, Ellie Lyall and husband Jim of Plantation, Florida, seven grandchildren; Shaun and Keli Cochran, Alex, Dennis and Dylan Lopez, Aspen and Braden Sundberg, several nieces and nephews and numerous longtime friends in Florida and many special acquaintances in Mountain City, Tennessee. A Celebration of Life Service for Michael H. Maney will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 5th, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation of East Tennessee, 4450 Walker Blvd. Suite 2, Knoxville, Tennessee 37917-1523 or Johnson County Library Fund, 219 North Church Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
