Millard James Mabe

Millard James Mabe, age 72, of 490 Hospital Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 27, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A loving family and lots of wonderful friends surrounded Millard during his battle with cancer. He was born on October 27, 1931, in Johnson County, Tennessee, to the late Rufus and Bertha Byers Mabe. In addition to his parents, Millard was preceded in death by two brothers, Blaine Mabe and Bud Mabe. He had lived 35 years in Elkton, Maryland, where he and Shelby Jean Richardson Mabe raised their family. After working 30 years for Daimler Chrysler Corporation, he retired and moved back to Johnson County, Tennessee, where he lived happily for 15 years. Millard was an avid gardener and fisherman. He was a member of State Line Baptist Church. Millard is survived by one daughter, Loretta Cedrone and husband Danny of Havre De Grace, Maryland; two sons, Kevin James Mabe and wife Janet and Christopher Shawn Mabe, all of Elkton, Maryland; four sisters, Thelma Greer and husband Stacy of Taylor Valley, Virginia, Phyllis Mast and husband Carl, Frances Dowell and husband Ross and Nancy Lowe and husband Ronnie, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; two brothers, Fred Mabe and wife Jean of Taylor Valley, Virginia and J.R. Mabe and wife Elma of Elkton, Maryland. Pop also had three wonderful grandchildren, Tony Cedrone, Taylor Cedrone and Raylin Mabe. Special friends, Jennie Keene, Joel and Margaret Icenhour and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Millard will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2004 from the Stateline Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Spratlin and Rev. Lonnie Denny to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Kerry Gentry. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior to Services, at the Church. Entombment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2004 from the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum of Love. Active Pallbearers will be: Danny Richardson, Chris Wright, Jeff Fritts, David Mast, Phillip Mast and Stacy Dowell. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dr. Buddy Clayton and Staff, Joel Icenhour, Tom Gentry and Dr. Kahn. The family would like to thank all of the Physicians and Staff and caregivers for their help and support during Millard's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Johnson County Cancer Support Group, c/o Flo Bellamy, 3510 Highway 421 North, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
