Milton David Phipps, age 68, passed away at his residence in Johnson City, Tennessee on Monday, October 8, 2018. Milton was born in Mountain City, Tennessee on November 21, 1949, to William Phipps and Belvia Kilby Phipps. Milton was preceded in death by his father, his brother Bill Phipps, and two sisters Irene Snyder and Patricia Phipps.
Milton was a lifelong student and enjoyed learning about new things. In his free time, Milton enjoyed collecting all kinds of different things and he really enjoyed watching Tennessee football.
Those left to cherish memories of Milton are his mother, Belvia Phipps; sisters, Carmia Cornett, Lois Snyder, and Betty Bryant of Mountain City, TN, Virginia Hodge of Shady Valley, Tennessee, and Betty Warden of Abingdon, VA; a brother Kenneth Phipps of Mountain City, Tennessee; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; numerous nieces and nephews; the staff of Dawn of Hope, especially “Baby”.
Pallbearers will be Jody Putnum, Trampass Hodge, David Whisman, Dennis Bryant, Rick Bryant, Willie Phipps, Junior Cornett, and Ed Hodge. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Dawn of Hope.
The family and close friends will meet Thursday, October 11th, 2018, at 12pm for a private gathering with Graveside services to follow in the Acre Field Cemetery in Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee.
