Minnie E. McFadden-Bays-Matheson, age 83, of 8151 Hwy 67 West, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on May 28th, 2004 at her residence following a brief illness. A native of Trade, Tennessee, she was born May 29, 1920 to the late Wiley Thomas and Mary Richardson McFadden. In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Howard Bays, who passed away in 1976; two sons, Benjamin and Jimmy Bays; three brothers, Jake, Thomas and James McFadden and two sisters, Hazel Canter and Nannie Richardson. Minnie was a homemaker and enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. Minnie is survived by her husband Billy H. Matheson of the home; one daughter, Nora Philyaw and husband Bobby of Lenoir, North Carolina; six sons, Frank Bays and wife Naomi of Elizabethton, Fred Bays, Ted Bays, Scott Bays and wife Linda, all of Mountain City, Edward Bays and wife Teresa of Lenoir, North Carolina and John Bays and wife Leeanne of Boone, North Carolina; one sister, Della Potter of Elizabethton; three brothers, Joe McFadden of Butler, Charles McFadden and Dan McFadden, both of Mountain City; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; special friends, Loretta Stout of Mountain City and Patricia Matheson of Jonesborough. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Minnie will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Henson to officiate. Entombment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004 from the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are: Doug Osborne, Joe McFadden, Ted McFadden, Thea Martin, Ralph Matheson, Glenn Shupe and George Lowe. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Monday prior to Services from the Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence.
