Morris Stuart Davis, went home with Jesus on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Dad was born July 9, 1935 in Capels, West Virginia to the late William Christopher Davis and Kate Snyder Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Linda Sue Davis; daughter, Linda Campbell; sons, James Stuart Davis, William Morris Davis, Keith Allen Davis; granddaughter, Sarah Campbell; three great great grandsons, Ryland, Clayton and Savion Vanover.

Dad was of the baptist faith and attended Victory Chapel Church in Mountain City. Dad worked in construction for a time, although he trimmed trees for many years. He always joked and said he was a tree surgeon. He was always joking and kidding around. He loved the out doors, was a passionate fisher and loved hunting, watching westerns and horses. Dad also served in the Army. He loved playing lottery and won several times.

Those left to cherish the memories are his daughters, Tammy Treadway (Mike) of Mountain City, Theresa Vanover of Johnson City; son, Johnny Dwayne Davis of Mountain City; son-in-law, Larry Campbell of Butler; eight grand kids; twenty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a great number of nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Josephine Davis, Wanda Davis and Hazel Roberts; many friends and special friend, Lois Dunn, who he thought of as a sister.

Dad never said good bye, it was always, see you later. so see you later Dad.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Abby Barker, his caregiver and to all the ladies from Amedisys Hospice.

A funeral service for Morris will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Victory Chapel Church with James Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Arville Roberts Cemetery.

At other times friends may visit the home of his daughter and son-in law, Tammy and Mike Treadway 603 Jenkins Hollow Road, Mountain City, TN.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers are John Davis Jr., Jeff Wagner, and Howard Stout.

Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard.
