Mrs Shirley A. Carter

Mrs. Shirley A. Carter, age 74, of 9458 Hwy 321, Butler, Tennessee, passed away on August 29, 2005 at the Watauga Medical Center, Boone, North Carolina. She was born on August 13, 1931 in Cutler, Indiana to the late Bruce Cresse and Lela Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bobby D. Carter. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Elk Mills Christian Church. She was very active in the Friends of the Western Watauga Library and enjoyed painting and gardening. Mrs. Carter is survived by one daughter, Debbie Carter and husband P.J. Ollis of Boone, North Carolina; two sons: Dudley Carter and wife Sandi of Augusta, Georgia and Dale Carter and wife Pat of Clearwater, Florida; one sister, Betty Hilliard of Melbourne, Florida; two brothers: Bill Cresse of Hollywood, Florida and Joe Cresse of Tallahassee, Florida; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Shirley A. Carter will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Andy Lunceford to officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Friends of the Western Watauga Library, 1085 Old US Hwy 421, Sugar Grove, North Carolina 28679.
