Myrtle Grindstaff Forrester, age 89, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Friday, June 24, 2005 at the Mountain City Care Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, Myrtle was born on December 19, 1915 and was the daughter of the Late Daniel J. and Ada Proffitt Grindstaff. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Burnice Forrester; two brothers: Edward Grindstaff and Thomas Grindstaff and one sister, Lena Garland. She was a member of the Midway Baptist Church of Butler, Tennessee. Myrtle is survived by one sister, Leta and husband Herbert Lewis; one sister-in-law, Mary Grindstaff, all of Mountain City, Tn; three nieces: Evelyn Dugger of Kingsport, Tn, Kathy Hinkle of Lexington, N.C. and Diane Hazelwood of Marion, Va; two special great nephews: Layne Dugger of Windermere, Fl and Matthew Hinkle of Lexington, N.C.; one great niece, Jennifer Roush of Marion, Va; two special great-great nieces: Reagan Dugger and Delaney Dugger, both of Windermere, Fl; two great-great nieces; Kelsie Kirk and Katlin Kirk, both of Marion, Va and several cousins also survive. Funeral Services for Myrtle Grindstaff Forrester will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005 from the Chapel of the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Morefield to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Danny Cullop. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Butler, Tennessee. Active Pallbearers will be: Charles Fenner, Ronnie Henson, Paul Fletcher, Larry Grindstaff, Bob Garland and Doyle Tester. Honorary Pallbearer are: Earl Morefield, Ronnie Laws, Howard Bradley, R.L. Poole, Earl Phillips and Ellis Wolfe. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, prior to Services, at Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
