Nancy Ellen Vinson Crowe, age 96, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 29, 2009, after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late John Belton Vinson and wife Blanche Mae Baugh Vinson. She was born on July 29, 1912 in Smith County, Mississippi but had resided in Johnson County, Tennessee for the majority of her life. Ms. Crowe was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in the W.M.U. and Sunday school. She graduated high school in Magee, Mississippi. After her graduation she attended nursing school at the University of Tennessee at Memphis graduating in 1935, and then dedicated her life to the nursing care of others for over fifty years. In addition to her parents, Ms. Crowe was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Crowe, who passed away January 25, 1996, and three brothers and sisters.
Survivors include: two daughters: Blanche Lanham of Atlanta, GA. and Laura Conn of Panama City, FL.; two brothers: Robert Vinson of Magee, MS and Richard Vinson of Pioneer, CA; grandchildren: Amy Floyd, Asheville, NC; Andy Lunceford, Newnan, GA; Alan Winkler, Dothan, AL; Deanna Bump, San Antonio, TX and Michael Conn, Birmingham, AL; six great grandchildren, special nephew, The Honorable William B. Hawkins, and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service for Ms. Nancy Ellen Vinson Crowe will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 2, 2009 in the East Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Stidham to officiate.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 3, 2009 in the Phillippi Cemetery.
