Nancy Ann Shoun Burt age 73, left us November 10, 2014. Vascular Dementia stole her brilliant mind, but not her spirit. She joins her husband, Charles "Chuck" Burt, many friends and family members including her parents the late Mae and Bud Shoun and a nephew Timothy Morley and a brother in-law Ernie Fifer. Those who remain to cherish her memory and accomplishments are sisters; Selma Fifer, of Mountain City, Tennessee, Kay Bowers(Buddy) of Harriman, Tennessee and Kathy Moore(Dan) of Rockwood, Tennessee; Several nieces and nephews, including, the Rev. James Morley of Bridgeport, West Virginia, David Bowers of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Holly Kharitonashivili of Vienna, Virginia, and Amber Wilhiem of Arlington, Virginia Nancy had a wonderful childhood growing up in the mountains of Johnson County, Tennessee. She was a salutatorian of her JCHS class of 1958, an honor graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, majoring in psychology and mathematics, Her professional work began in social work with Human Resources in Chattanooga, Tennessee and then on to Goddard Space Center in Maryland as a computer programmer, where she worked in the development of FORTRAN, one of the first languages; continued as a computer programmer and analyst with Bankers Life Insurance Company in Kentucky and California ; and finally as a Founder and President of Senior Concerns INC in Austin , Texas one of the first Geriatric Care Management Firms in the country. In addition, Nancy traveled and extensively and volunteered in numerous civic organizations with Austin Family Eldercare, INC.. Guardianship program, Abused Women , Cancer Crusades vetc. She was an avid Golfer, Bowler and loved to fish! Excelling in everything, She was some lady! We Love Her- We Miss Her- We Salute Her! Her family expresses its sincere appreciation to the Pine Oaks Assisted Living Facility, Johnson City, the Erwin Health Care and the Center on Aging and Health, Erwin, TN, where she resided for the past several years. Most recently, for the love and kindness she received from the caring staff of the Mountain City Care and Rehab Center, Mountain City, TN Memorials may be made to the Mountain City Presbyterian Church where she attended, 517 Fair Ground Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683 or the Johnson County Humane Society, 919 Orchard Road, Butler, Tennessee 37640.
