Nathaniel Eugene Sheets, age 85, of 1789 Lumpkin Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, he was born on June 8, 1920 to the late Walter O. and Martha E. Tester Sheets. In addition to his parents, Nathaniel was preceded in death by two sisters: Bonita Jewell and Thelma Simcox; five brothers: Thurman Sheets, Joe Sheets, Marshall Sheets, Everette Sheets and Marvin Sheets. Nathaniel was a former employee for Cable T.V. of Palm Springs, California and installed the first cable television in Palm Springs. He was a World War II Army Air Corp Veteran. Nathaniel attended Church of God. Nathaniel is survived by his loving wife of over 59 years, Doris A Sheets of the home; two daughters: Linda Sheets Gallagher of Hickory, NC and Dianne Sheets Bender of Boise, Idaho; two sisters: Ellarose Barnes of Mountain City, TN and Vera Nikazy of Elizabethton, TN; one brother, Mike Sheets of Hickory, NC; four grandchildren: Lance Hill, who is serving in Iraq, Kelly Davis of Fayetteville, NC, Adam Gallagher of Wilmington, NC and Justin Gallagher of Hickory, NC; one great grandchild; Brayden Davis of Fayetteville, NC, several nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends. Funeral Services for Nathaniel Eugene Sheets will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2005 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Derl McCloud and Doug Ranshaw, Adventa Hospice Chaplain, to officiate. Military Honors and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2005 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery and will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Active Pallbearers will be: Raymond Smith, James Gallagher, Adam Gallagher, Justin Gallagher, Dwayne Jewell and Calvin Nikazy. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dr. Buddy Clayton, Pam Bunting and Brenda Reece. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, prior to Services, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
