Nina Mae Hammons, age 88, of 2701 Hwy 67 West, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born on March 4, 1918 in Shouns, Tennessee to the late BC and Ruth (Parker) Hammons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hammons, who passed away in 1983 and two nephews: Worley Hall and David Hammons. Nina Mae loved spending time with her family and friends and also enjoyed working in her flowers. She was a member of Mountain City Church of Christ and was also a former Sunday school teacher. Nina Mae is survived by two sisters: Faye Hall and Ann Mae Knight; two brothers: Boyd Hammons and Ray Hammons, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; two nieces: Ruth Ann Sajdak of Mountain City, Tennessee and Janie Hammons of Bristol, Tennessee; one nephew, Bill Hammons of Mountain City, Tennessee and several cousins. Funeral Services for Nina Mae Hammons will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Preacher Darrell Broking to officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the Service, at the funeral home. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2006 from the Hammons Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Bill Hammons, Paul Sajdak, Dean Gouge, Harold Morefield, Ernest Tidwell and Chuck Jenkins. Honorary Pallbearers are: Staff of Hospice, Nurses and Staff of Johnson County Home Health and Dr. Jim Shine and Staff. Family, Pallbearers and Friends are asked to assemble by 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, at the cemetery for Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Medical Center Hospice, 101 Med Tech Parkway, Suite 101, Johnson City, Tennessee 37604 and/or to the Hammons Cemetery Fund, c/o Faye Hall, 185 Hubert Taylor Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
