Norma J. Owens, age 76, of 4093 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, TN, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2004 in the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Owens was a native of Ashe County, NC and was born September 17, 1927 to the late Fieldon and Danford Price Osborne. She loved gardening and cooking and was a member of the Big Laurel Mennonite Church. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by three brothers: Clyde, Bill and Glenn Osborne. Survivors include two daughters: Lois and husband Wiley Maze of Mountain City, TN, Wilma and husband Doug Woodard of Johnson City, TN; one son: Joseph Clyde and wife Judy Marie Owens, Mountain City, TN; two sisters: Gladys Patrick and Martha E. Johnson, both of Creston, NC; three brothers: Earnest F. Osborne and William Dale Osborne, both of Creston, NC, and Norman Clay Osborne, Mountain City, TN; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Virgie Farmer. Funeral services for Norma J. Owens will be held at 8:00 P. M. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Chapel of the Henson Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Graybeal to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Joe Simcox and Harold Wexler. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2004, from the Sunset Memorial Park in Mountain City, TN. Pallbearers will be Michael "Red" Jordan, Douglas Woodard, Steven Owens, Chad Sluder, Dewey Woodard, and Wiley Maze. The family will receive Friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, prior the funeral services. At other times, friends may call at her residence, 4093 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City.
