Norma Carolyn Wills, age 88, of 922 Circle Drive, Mountain City, TN passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born August 7, 1926 to the late L. Karl Wills and Kate Phillips Wills. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters: Minerva McEwen and Katherine Snyder and two brothers: Gene Wills and John R. Wills. She enjoyed spending time gardening and farming, also canning and working in her flowers. She was member of JCHS class of 1945 and also attended ETSU. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at First United Methodist Church and attended First Baptist Church later in life. She was also awarded the Hometown Hero's Hall of Fame award in October 2014. Norma worked for the Johnson County School Board for 47 years from 1947 - 1992 and worked at the ASC office prior to that. She was part of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include: sister-in-law: Winnie M. Wills of Townsend, DE; Niece, Carolyn Gibison and husband John; Nephews: Lewis A. Snyder and wife Karen of Johnson City, TN, Gene and wife Gail Wills of West Grove, PA, Karl Wills and wife Pam of Smyrna, DE and Jimmy Wills of NJ; and special friends:Bobby Wills, Bud McComas, Emily Millsaps, Geraldine Wallace, Mary Grindstaff, Nancy Wills and Wilma Smith. Services for Norma will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the East Side Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Wills and Rev. Rickey Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015 from Sunset Memorial Park. Everyone will assemble at 12:45 prior to the service. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bud McComas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First United Methodist Church or Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
