Oliver R. Neatherly, age 75, of 235 Laurel Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away April 14, 2004 at the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, he was born February 11, 1929 to the late Jake and Maggie McElyea Neatherly. He was a former employee of Maymead, where he worked for over 50 years. Oliver was a member of Vaughts Gap Baptist Church and also attended the Rainbow Baptist Church. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters; Nellie Tester, Nettie Farthing, Lona Wilson and Fannie Fussell and four brothers; Charlie Neatherly, Joe Neatherly, Bruce Neatherly and Brady Neatherly. Oliver is survived by his wife of 54 years; Betty Walsh Neatherly of the home, two daughters; Pam Holbrook and husband Richard of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Jennifer Stout and husband Blake of Mountain City, Tennessee, three grandchildren; Susan Taylor of Jacksonville, Florida, Jeffery Holbrook of Johnson City, Tennessee and Joey Stout of Mountain City, Tennessee, one great granddaughter; Sadie Stout of Mountain City, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Oliver will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004 from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. J.C. Green and Rev. Bruce Simcox to officiate. Family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Prior to Services. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 from the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Walsh, Jimmy Tester, Mark Tester, Ed Dugger, Wayne Parker, Randall Fletcher and Dean Stout. Friends and Pallbearers are asked to meet at the cemetery Saturday at 9:45 a.m. At other times, friends may also call at the residence 235 Laurel Road, Mountain City, Tennessee.
