Oran J. Houston

Oran J. Houston, age 77, of 248 Sunset Drive, Mountain City, TN passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. He was born May 1, 1939 to the late Vester Houston and Daisy McKinney Houston. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters: Dorothy, Myrtle, Geneva, Eunice, and Faye, one brother, Tom, and two daughters: Eunice and Joleen. Oran attended Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family.

Survivors are: his wife of 58 years, Shirley Coleman Houston, four daughters: Melba Paynter and husband Tommy, Linda Buenfil, Patty Pollard and husband Allen, and Jamey Dowless, one sister, Betty Lowe, grandchildren: Crystal Martin, T.H. Paynter, Melinda Paynter, Nicholas Coates, Javier Buenfil, Celeste Houston, Averielle Houston, Curtis Kellum, A.J.Pollard, Hailey Pollard, Breanna Dowless, and Kaidynse Houston, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service to honor Oran, Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., from Central Assembly of God Church, 170 Assembly Drive, Boone, NC, with Pastor Chuck Bristle officiating. At other times friends may call his daughter Patty Pollard at 423-471-1158.
