Oscar Carroll Hayworth

d. March 30, 2016

Oscar Carroll Hayworth, age 71, of 128 Corner Road, Mountain City passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Sycamore Shoals Hospitals. He was born November 10, 1944 to the late Offie Hayworth, Sr. and Zonna Green Hayworth. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Offie Hayworth , Jr. and Dean Hayworth, sister, Dreama Hayworth and also an infant sister. Carroll was a member and past President of Johnson County Ministerial Alliance. He had been an ordained minister since 1983 and was currently the Pastor of Victory Chapel Cowboy Church. He loved reading his Bible and preaching. He also enjoyed traveling, farming, and the outdoors.

Carroll was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, pastor, and best friend. He was a minister of the Gospel with a true servant’s heart. He will be remembered for his loving, selfless spirit, his sense of humor, and his heart for the lost. He truly loved his Lord first of all, his family, his friends, and his church. Everyone he met felt like he had known them all their life. “Preacher Carroll” lived and preached by the verse, “For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast”: Ephesians 2: 8 and 9. He has now entered into his rest, and we know one day, by God’s grace, we will all be reunited.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eileen Hayworth, daughter, Karyn Risher and husband James of North Canton, OH, two sons: Carroll “Andy” Hayworth and wife Debra and Edward Hayworth and wife Laura, all of Mountain City, three sisters: Betty Janes Severt of Greenville, TN, Ann Aievoli and husband Nick of Clayton, DE, and Rita Johnston and husband Ray of Springfield, VA, one brother, James Hayworth and wife Gaye of Mountain City, four grandchildren: Joshua Wolf of Tucson, AZ, Carrie Hostetler and husband Nevin of Dundee, OH, Alyssa Wolf of North Canton, OH, and Cora Hayworth of Mountain City, and two great grandchildren: Adelynn and Jovie Hostetler. Many special nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

There will be a Celebration of Life, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from Victory Chapel Cowboy Church with Freddy Anderson, Homer Vanover, and James Gentry officiating.
