Ottis Edward Mahala, age 89, of 486 Antioch Road, Mountain City, TN went home to the Lord Thursday, May 25, 2006 at his residence. He was a native of Ashe County, North Carolina but had lived in Johnson County most of his life. He was born June 10, 1916 to the late President Luke and Pearl Price Mahala, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Reba Snyder Mahala and two brothers,Golden Mahala who lived in Hockessin, Delaware and Dewey Lee Norris who lived in Abingdon, Virginia. Mr. Mahala was a retired farmer and retired from Thomasville Furniture Co. in Lenoir, N. C. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include: Two daughters: Pauline Bristol of Lenoir, North Carolina Judy Moretz of Mountain City One son: James Mahala of Creston, North Carolina Nine grandchildren: Sixteen Great grandchildren Several nieces and nephews also survive Funeral services for Ottis Edward Mahala will be held 3:00 p. m. Sunday, May 28, 2006 from the Chapel of the Henson Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Ranshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Pallbearers will be: Doug McFadden, Randy Hood, Scotty Hood, Andy Mahala, and Edward Mahala Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Floyd Barker, Pam Bunting, Brenda Reece and Kim McDonnell. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p. m. until 3:00 p. m. Sunday at the Henson Funeral Home prior the services. Friends may also call at the residence of Mr. Mahala, 486 Antioch Road, Mountain City at anytime.
