Penny Vaught

Penny Vaught, age 62, of Mountain City, Tennessee Passed away on Monday May 7, 2024 in the Johnson City Medical Center.  Penny was born on June 28, 1961 in Mountain City, Tennessee to the late A.D. and Ruth Grindstaff.

Penny was a child of God, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and a friend to many.  She loved being surrounded by loved ones, serving God at Locust Gap Freewill Baptist Church as a member, tending to her flowers, being outdoors, and cooking big meals for her family.  Penny cherished her husband, Wayne; son, Josh; daughter n law, Audrey and her grandchildren, Briley and Bentley, who she loved to watch and be around.

In addition to her husband, Wayne, those left to cherish her memory include her son, Josh Vaught and wife Audrey; two grandchildren, Briley and Bentley Vaught; brother, Benny Grindstaff and wife Linda; sister, Joann Cutlip and husband Charlie; nephew, Blake Grindstaff and wife Jackie; niece, Kim Hampton; her cherished Locust Gap Freewill Baptist Church family and many friends also survive.

Funeral service for Penny will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 2 pm at Locust Gap Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Shannon Courtner, Pastor Tyler Fenner and Youth Pastor Warren May officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 pm - 2 pm prior to the service.  A graveside service will follow in The Pleasant Grove Cemetery.  At other times the family will receive friends at 1580 Mill Creek Road.

Pallbearers will be Blake Grindstaff, Ronnie Garland, Warren May, Jonathan Jones, Ronnie Pilgrim and Kaleb Walker.
