Percie Preston Jones

Percie Preston Jones, age 87, of 5872 Highway 421 South, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord September 12, 2003 at the Johnson County Health Center following an extended illness. He was born March 25, 1916 to the late Bill and Marticia Winebarger Jones. Percie was a Bee Farmer, a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II, and was of the Baptist faith. He was the husband of the late Hazel Gladys Jones , who passed away in 1994.He was also preceded in death by his son, Delbert Lipford, and all of his brothers and sisters. Survivors Include: (4) Daughters: Betty Welborn, of Wilkesboro, North Carolina Helen McCoy and husband Fred, of Mountain City, Tennessee Margaret Bennett, of Mountain City, Tennessee Stella Osborne and husband Frank, of Mountain City, Tennessee (2) Sons: Billy Junior Jones, of the Home Donald L. Jones and wife Norma, of Butler, Tennessee 26 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren, and Several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral Services for Percie Preston Jones will be held 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003 at the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Manuel to officiate. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2003, prior to the services at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel. Active Pallbearers will be the Grandsons Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2003 from the Jones Cemetery at Pine Mountain in Creston, North Carolina. Hux-Lipford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
