Phyllis Kay Nalley

Phyllis Kay Nalley, 69, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026. She was born on March 1, 1957, in Bowling Green, where she was born, raised and where she spent her entire life.

Phyllis was a graduate of Bowling Green High School. On November 29, 1974, she married the love of her life, Jimmy Nalley. Their story began years earlier when they met as young teenagers at Beech Bend Park while roller skating. What began as a young love grew into a lifetime together.

Phyllis was a charter member of Three Springs Baptist Church. She was active in the Choir and Women’s Ministry and found great joy in her faith, her family, and the many people whose lives she touched.

She loved her job as a bus driver for Bowling Green Independent School District. To Phyllis, it was much more than simply driving a bus. She treasured the relationships she built with her students and their families and genuinely cared about the children she transported each day. The flexibility of her job also allowed her to keep the same schedule as her own five children, something that meant so much to her as a mother.

Above all else, Phyllis was a mother. She was the most nurturing mother, always caring for and putting her family first. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, caring daughter and sister, and a cherished grandmother. She had a kind heart and a gift for making people feel welcome and loved. She especially enjoyed hosting holidays, filling her home with family, laughter, food, and memories.

Phyllis had a love for antiques of all kinds and enjoyed finding special treasures. She loved playing BINGO and shopping! But the greatest treasures in her life were always the people she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Mary Harrod; her brother, Robert Harrod; her sisters, Janice Montgomery and Margaret Lockhart; and her beloved grandson, Cohen Lee Nalley.

Phyllis leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her husband, Jimmy Nalley; her children, Brian Nalley, Krystal (Jeff) Martin, Evan (Heather) Nalley, Tammy (Matt) Law, and Mary Rachel (Kody) Norris; and her grandchildren, Jordan, Destiney, Amaya, Austin, Ashlin, Addison, Isaiah, McKenna, Kadin, Kendal, Bristol, and Harleigh. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Greyson, Drake, and Willow. Phyllis’s surviving brothers and sisters are Debra (Gary) Vinson, Terry Harrod, Rhonda Harrod, Donna (Jason) Bennett, Kevin Harrod, and Melissa (Jon) Sowards. Her memory will also be cherished by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her special coworker and friend, Anita Wilson, along with countless students, families, friends, coworkers, and others whose lives she touched throughout the years.

Phyllis will be remembered for her nurturing heart, her kindness, her love of family, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her greatest joy was loving and caring for others, and the love she gave so freely will continue through the family and memories she leaves behind.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing that the love she shared throughout her life will never be forgotten.
