Mrs. Phyllis V. Reece (née Price), age 82 of Trade, TN, passed away August 3, 2024. She was born October 6, 1941 in Creston, NC at the homeplace. She was a member of Mountain City Church of Christ, which she dearly loved attending. When she could no longer attend, she watched faithfully from home. She loved God, her family and her church family. Everyone who knew her loved her. She enjoyed watching Westerns, playing cards, tending to her flowers and spending time with the family dog, Charlie. She was always busy whether picking beans behind the Mast Store in Valle Crucis, NC as a teenager, canning mushrooms as a young adult in Pennsylvania, teaching Sunday School at her church, growing a huge garden and then canning all the vegetables, and making blue jeans for Levi Strauss in Mountain City, TN until her retirement in 1996.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Johnny L. Reece and infant son, Donnie; also her parents, Dan and Eula Cornett Price, four brothers: Robert, Andy, Junior and George Price and five sisters: Corine Price, Janice Price, Josephine Osborne, Velma Price and Linda Woodard.
Phyllis is survived by: two sons, Johnny L. Reece, Jr. (Kenny) and wife Lynn of Round Lake, IL and Ronnie E. Reece of Roanoke, VA; two daughters, Joy Henson and husband Kevin of Vilas, NC and Cynthia James and husband Mike of Mountain City, TN; her grandchildren, Keirsten Henson Estes and husband Gabe of Durham, NC and Benjamin Henson of Richmond, VA and Jessica Doherty and husband Danny of Round Lake, IL and Jonathan Lowing of Boynton Beach, FL; and her great grandchildren Ember and Landon Doherty. She is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Church of Mountain City, TN and Elaine Wilson and husband Don of Mountain City, TN and one brother Jack Price of Creston, NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were conducted in the Reece Cemetery in Trade, TN.
