RV Brown, age 89, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at his residence, with his loving family by his side. There, he was reunited with his wife of 66 years, Margaret Pearl Dugger Brown, and a son, Thomas Leon Brown. He was also preceded in death by his parents, James and Stella Hagy Brown; brothers, Atley, Shirley, Don, Haden, Ree, and Stanley Brown; and sisters, Eva Tester and Vela Dugger. Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Sandra Farthing and husband Taylor of Butler, TN; two sons, Ivan Brown and wife Carolyn of Johnson City, and Randy Brown of Mountain City; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and his dog, Hershey; and many other cherished friends. RV was born on April 2, 1923 in Butler, TN. He served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army. A machinist by trade, RV was also a gifted woodcrafter whose greatest joy was singing tenor in the Sugar Grove Baptist Church Quartet. He was a longtime member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Elizabethton, TN. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caretakers Barbara, Deborah and Lou. A celebration of RV's life will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Greene, Rev. Mike Taylor, and Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Music will be provided by his grandsons and Sugar Grove Baptist Church Quartet. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service; or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 28, 2013, in Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, in Butler. Active pallbearers will be Dustin Farthing, Kevin Farthing, Brian Farthing, Devin Farthing, Bobby Stout and Daniel Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Calloway, Bill Young, Bill Gentry, Walter Heaton, Floyd Storie, and Frank Quintero along with friends and neighbors. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 am Thursday.
