Rachel Marie South

Rachel Marie South, age 63, of 156 K&R Road, Butler, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Butler, Tennessee, she was born November 27, 1940 to the late Kenny and Elsie Adams Arnold. Rachel graduated from Johnson County High School and retired from Levi Strauss. She was also a former employee of the Mountain City Glove Plant and K&R Caf. Rachel was an avid fisher, enjoyed gardening and loved the outdoors. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy South; grandparents, Billy and Martha Arnold and Joseph and Tiny Adams; three sisters, Mary Nell Guinn, Martha Johnson and Opal Worley and four brothers, Dean Arnold, Shelburn Arnold, Rossman Arnold and Armour Arnold. She is survived by one son, Wayne South of Gainesville, Florida; one sister, Edna Cress of Mountain City; two brothers, James Arnold of Butler and Dexter Arnold of Hockessin, Delaware; special friends, Linda Arnold, Sherry Arnold and Justine South. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Rachel will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2004 from the Sunset Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be: Mike Cornett, James Guinn, Hurley Guinn, Keith Cress, Dexter Shipley and Darrell Darnell. Honorary Pallbearers are: Odell Johnson, Fred Hinson, Dr. George Cunningham, Thomas Cunningham and Brad Gentry. Family will receive friends Friday from 6-7:00 p.m. prior to Services at the Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call at the home of James and Linda Arnold, 178 K&R Road, Butler, Tennessee. Family and Friends are asked to assemble at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park for Graveside Services.
