Ralph Pop Lipford

Ralph "Pop" Lipford, age74, of 234 Clarence Stout Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at his residence December 24, 2003. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, he was born April 07, 1929 to the late B.C. and Mae Jones Lipford. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, one son; Allen Lipford, one daughter; Sandy Lipford, three brothers; Gary, Raymond and Perry Lipford and one sister; Norma South. Ralph enjoyed horseback riding and was retired from the Johnson County School Systems after 47 years of service and was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Ralph is survived by his spouse Peggy Yates Lipford of the home, one daughter; Connie Payne of Knoxville, Tennessee, four sons; James Forrester, Jerry Lipford, Kenny Forester and Benny Forrester all of Mountain City, Tennessee, one sister; Faustean Sanders of Zionville, North Carolina, three brothers; Dagle Lipford, Boyd Lipford and Buford Lipford all of Mountain City, Tennessee, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Ralph "Pop" Lipford will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2003 from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. David Bentley and Rev. Bruce Simcox to officiate. Music will be under the coordination of Jerry Horne and Clint Howard. Family will receive friends 5-6:45 p.m. prior to services. Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2003 from the Lipford Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are: Terry Gregg, Jack McCoy, Bill Gentry, Jim Neely, Ronnie Martin, Van Neely, Mel Wagner and Keith Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are: D.C. Forrester, Norman Thomas, Danny Grindstaff, Staff of the Johnson County School Bus Garage and Drivers and Johnson County School Board Members and Staff. Friends may call the residence at anytime.
