Ralph J. Poteet

Ralph J. Poteet, age 85, of 584 Liberty Church Road passed away, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at his residence. He was born January 11, 1931 to the late Lucious Poteet and Lilly Trent Poteet. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Poteet, one brother, Dick Poteet, and two sisters: Zella Hutto and Clouis Arnold. He was a member of Valley View United Methodist Church. He enjoyed tinkering, lake fishing, and listening to country music. He served in the United States Air Force.

Survivors include: one daughter, Melody Poteet, four sons: Mike Poteet and wife Alma of Mountain City, Russ Poteet and wife Lisa of Mountain City, Shane Poteet and wife Donna of Mountain City, and Travis Poteet and wife Melissa, eleven grandchildren: Jesse, Jason, Josh, Luke,  Rachel, Faith, Chris, Andrew, Michelle, Nichole, and Matthew, and one niece, Patricia Fox. Thirteen great grandchildren and many special friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2016 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Sam Icenhour officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. prior to the services. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are his co-workers at Mountain Electric Cooperation.
