Ray Adams

Ray David Adams, age 97, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born April 4, 1918 to the late George Willey Adams and Bessie Eggers Adams. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Adams, one son, Ray Douglas Adams, siblings: Ida Adams, George Adams, Alfred Adams, Charles Adams, Russell Adams, Ulas Adams, Smith Adams, Ethel Graham, Agnes Tulloch, and Belle Cole. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing, reading his Bible, and teaching Sunday School.   Survivors include: two daughters: Gloria Lewis and Shirley Greer, both of Mountain City, one brother, Dwight Adams of Mountain City, five grandchildren: Chris Greer of Mountain City, Stephanie Riddle of Johnson City, Johnathan Lewis of Mountain City, Sarah Moore of Bristol, VA, Nathaniel Lewis of Mountain City, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and special friends; Diane Moretz, Sarah Moore, Mary Reece, Buck and Elaine Kirby, and Dennis and Margie Adams, and the Members of Roan Creek Baptist Church.   Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Spencer Roark officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service from Sunset Memorial Park.
