Ray Greer, age 79, of 216 Pandora Lane, Butler, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Mountain City Care Center following a lengthy illness. A native of West Jefferson, North Carolina, he was born on March 8, 1925 to the late Artrow and Holly Belle Snyder Greer. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by, one son, Tom Greer; two sisters, Arzella Johnson and Ancil Mahala; two brothers, Dean Greer and J.D. Greer. Ray was a retried farmer and enjoyed fishing. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Anna S. Greer, of the home; two daughters; Joan Perry and husband Leonard and Christie Trent and husband George , all of Elizabethton, Tennessee; one son, Larry Greer and wife Glenda of Butler, Tennessee; two sisters, Reba Salmons and husband Walter and Louella Dowell; two brothers, Gene Greer and Ronald Greer, all of Mountain City, Tennessee and two grandchildren, Kevin Ray Colson and wife Whitney and Lisa Walsh and husband Carl. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2005 from the Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Dennis Wilson to officiate. Honorary Pallbearers are: Bill Scaggs, James "Bud" Pennington, Stuart Rambo, Charlie Adams, Rubin Stout and Gedar Harmon. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 216 Pandora Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
