Obituary for Ray E. Shatley. Mr. Ray E. Shatley, age 70, of 318 Hospital Hill Road, Mountain City, passed away Monday morning December 17, 2012 in the Watauga Hospital, Boone, NC. He was a native of West Jefferson, NC a son of the late Joe and Irene Parker Shatley. Mr Shatley was retired from the J.R. Vannoy Construction Company, his hobby was woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loyal and faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Mountain City. In addition to his parents a daughter Judy Cooper and a son Jody Shatley preceded him in death. Survivors are Wife, Marjorie Shatley, Mountain City, TN Daughters, Deborah Shatley, Mountain City, Angie and husband Todd Berardi, Mountain City, Son, Keith and wife Mona Shatley, Mountain City, Stepmother,Myrtle Shatley,West Jefferson, NC Sisters, Lena Ruth Roten, Jefferson, N C Jo Anne Houck, Jefferson, NC Dene Tomilson, Holiday, TN Brother, J.R. Shatley, West Jefferson, NC Grandchildren, Megan,Chriss, Cheray, Chris, Shauna and Teresa, Several Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews, Very special friends, Pastor Doug Stidham and Ginger Norris. Ray's request was a graveside service be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday December 18, 2012 at the Phillippi Cemetery officiated by His Pastor Rev. Douglas Stidham. Pallbearers will be Christopher Berardi, Steve Roark, Keith Shatley, Todd Berardi, Jason Adimaro, and Jake Oliver. There will be no formal visitation.
