Rebecca Victoria Johnson Reece, 90, of 825 Johnson Hollow Road in Mountain City died Saturday, June 19, 2004. Mrs. Reece was a lifelong resident of Johnson County and the daughter of Flura Edward and Maud Wagner Johnson. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she served as a pianist and organist for many years. Known by her students as Miss Rebecca, she was a grade school teacher for 47 years in Johnson County. She was a member of the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association and a member of the Wednesday Music Club. She was a Daughter of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband James Kermit Reece, December 31, 1998, and brother Martin Johnson, July 24, 2002, and nephew Eddie Nave. She was survived by one sister Madge Nave of Mountain City; nephew Charles Johnson and three nieces, Susie Stovall, Mary Nave and Judy Nave, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Reece will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Jim Hutchinson to officiate. The family will be at the funeral home for receiving of friends at 2 p.m. prior to the services. Graveside services and burial will follow in the Phillippi Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johnson County Retired Teachers Association in care of Harold Arnold at 621 Fairground Lane, Mountain City, TN 37683.
