Rev. Harold F. Danner

Rev. Harold F. Danner, age 71, of Zionville, passed away Tuesday morning, May 20, 2014 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Born August 27, 1942 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Oscar Grady Danner, Sr., and Addie Pearl Presnell Danner. Reverend Danner pastored a number of churches in Watauga County and Johnson County Tennessee. Harold was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Canter Danner, one daughter, Tabatha Oakes and husband Johnny of Boone, two sons, Duane Danner and Jody Danner and Melissa both of Zionville, seven grandchildren, Marinda Baker and Michael, Brandon Dollar and Julie, Brian Oakes and Michelle, Bradley Oakes and Heather, Eric Danner and Brittany, Justin Danner and Reagan, and Cody Oakes, eleven great grandchildren, four sisters, Betty Burleson of Boone, Barbara Cox and husband Dewitt of Deep Gap, Bettina Ward of Vilas, Diane Burchill and husband Monte of Concord Township, Ohio, four brothers, Oscar Danner Jr., and wife Lillian of Vilas, Houston Danner of Zionville, Johnny Danner of Monroe and Terry Danner and wife Susan of Morganton, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Danner and one niece, Anita Cowen. Funeral services for Rev. Harold Danner will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. David Ward, Rev. Brian Miller and Rev. Harvey Presnell. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Ebenezer Christian Children's Home, PO Box 2777, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at Austin and Barnes Funeral Home.
