Richard "Clay" Curd, age 83, of Knoxville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2004 at the UT Hospital of Knoxville. He was a native of Mountain City, Tennessee, where Mr. Curd had many friends and relatives. He was the son of the late Alfred and Carrie Jones Curd. In addition to his parents, Mr. Curd was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn Curd and Harold Curd and one sister, Adwina Curd Arnold. He was a member of Norwood Church of Christ. Mr. Curd was a member of the CCC Corps during World War II. He had retired from Sheet Metal Worker Local #5. Mr. Curd is survived by his wife, Peggy Curd of the home; two sons, Lewis Curd and wife Janice Wilson Curd and Dean Curd, all of Knoxville; special step-mother Ira Curd; two sisters, Wanda Payne and Doris Curd; one brother, Carl Mast and wife of Mountain City, Tennessee and sister-in-law, Grace Curd. Mr. Curd delighted in his Grandsons, Andrew, Keith and Alex and Granddaughters, Ami, Allison and Melissa. He was especially fond of his many Nieces and Nephews. Graveside Services and Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2004 from the Dunn Cemetery, Forge Creek Community, Mountain City, Tennessee with Mr. Robert Cowles to officiate. Active Pallbearers will be: Albert Davis, Larry Payne, Dwight Curd, Andrew Curd, Danny Curd, Jamie Curd, Keith Curd and Brigham Arnold. The family will receive friends from 1-3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2004 at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel prior to Graveside Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, . Condolences may be sent to the family through our website at www.hux-lipford.com.
