Richard Lee Pleasant

Richard Lee Pleasant, 73, Butler, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024 in the Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born June 4, 1951 in Mountain City to the late Weldon G. & Juanette Lowe Pleasant. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a retired Construction Worker. Lee loved his horses, he loved to wheel and deal. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Larry Dale Pleasant and Weldon G. Pleasant, Jr.,

Survivors include Two Brothers: James Lewis Pleasant and wife Phyllis, Johnson City and Lonnie Dean Pleasant, Butler and a sister: Margaret Lynda Taylor, Purlear, North Carolina. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and special great nieces and nephew: Weston, Cora and Melody.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2024 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Shannon Courtner officiating. Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2025 in the Pleasant Family Cemetery. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday will be: Ethan Johnson, Matt Bunton, Brandon Williams, Jimmy Jenkins, Ray Jenkins and Eddie Williams. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Mailien Rogers for the excellent care he received. Military Honors will be provided by the Johnson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Thursday.
