Robert Floyd Johnson, Sr., age 64, of 4221 Pine Orchard Road, Butler, TN passed away on October 18, 2014 from injuries sustained in an accident in Louisville, Ky. He was born December 9, 1949 to Eva Kate White Johnson and the late Troy Johnson. Robert was a member of Cobbs Creek Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of Johnson County Rescue Squad, a former officer with Mountain City Police Department, Butler Ruritan Club. He was US Army veteran of the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles having served during the Vietnam War and a member of 776 National Guard. His hobbies included fishing, antiques, and cooking. He loved making barbecue and was well known as "BBQ Bob". In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a brother Dwight "T Bone" Johnson. In addition to his mother, survivors include: one son: Robert "Peanut" Johnson and wife Jamie of Butler, TN; three sisters: Bonnie Reece, Elizabethton, TN; Mary Howes, Butler, TN and Teresa Wagner of Dry Hill, TN; four brothers: James Johnson, Butler, TN; Doug Johnson, Mountain City, TN; Andy Johnson and David Johnson of Butler, TN; two grandchildren: Dalton and Gabriel Johnson of Butler, TN. Several nieces and nephews and special friends, Tommy and Laura Cowan, and Brenda Lee Grindstaff also survive. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. prior to the service. A military graveside service accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard will be held in Sugar Grove Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683. Friends may visit at the funeral home at any time.
