Robert Ray

Robert Donald Ray, age 80, of North Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Wilkes Regional Medical Center in North Wilkesboro, NC. He was born May 28, 1935 to the late J.D. Ray and Alma Virginia Skritchfield Ray. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Jay Ray. Robert was enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea. Survivors include: one daughter; Derenda Adkins of Boone, NC two sons: Chris Allen Ray of West Virginia and Bobby Ray of North Wilkesboro, two brothers: Herbert Ray of Annapolis, MD and Kenneth Ray of NV; three grandchildren: Nicholas Allen Ray, Dustin Stephen Adkins, and Casey Ray Adkins, and a niece, Tammy Ray and nephew Jimmy Ray. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. from the East Side Chapel at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Lane officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow the services from Sunset Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
