Roby Tobe Gambill

Roby "Tobe" Gambill, age 73, of 919 Medical Park Drive and formally of 310 Dotson Lane Apt. 27, Mountain City, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Shouns, TN, he was born on April 4, 1931 to the late Smith and Charlotte Gouge Gambill. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and James Gambill, and two sisters, Mary and Cora Gambill. Roby was a former deputy sheriff of the Johnson County Sheriffs Department and attended the First Freewill Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved gardening. Survivors include Two Daughters: Ila Mink, Mountain City, Donna Dunn and husband Benny, Mountain City; One Sister: Ruth Potter, Mountain City; Two Brothers: Henry Gambill, Mountain City, Pate Gambill, Creston, North Carolina; Two Grandsons: Jason and Jeremy Dunn, Mountain City; Several Nieces and Nephews, and a special friend, Louise Niddifer, Elizabethton, Tennessee. Funeral Services for Roby "Tobe" Gambill will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Music will be provided by Larry and Brenda Barry. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. from the Hammons Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Earl Gambill, Sonny Gambill, Bill Gambill, Glenn Gambill, Jason Dunn, Jeremy Dunn. The Family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the services at the funeral home chapel. At other times friends may call at the residence of Donna and Benny Dunn, 5454 Forge Creek Road, Mountain City, at anytime.
