Roger Dale Grogan, known for his quiet demeanor and deep appreciation for life, passed away at his residence on September 8, 2025. Born on June 1, 1966, in Watauga, North Carolina, Roger embraced his Indian heritage with pride, earning him the affectionate nickname "Big Chief." He was admired not only for his cultural roots but also for his friendly manner which endeared him to those he met.
Roger's passion for automobiles, particularly Fords and Mopars, was well-known among his family and friends, reflecting his zest for life and the joy he found in his interests. A man of faith, Roger was a proud member of the Baptist community and exemplified the values that his faith imparted.
He is survived by The love of his life, Michele Mynes Dotson; his sisters, Brenda (Walter) Combs and Judy (Gary) Greer; and his brother, Roy (Reba) Grogan. Roger cherished his role as an uncle to his two nieces, Dena Potter and Brandy Grogan, as well as his nephew, James Combs, and the many great nieces and nephews who filled his life with joy.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Elmer Parker Grogan and Sally "Nellene" Canter Grogan; as well as his brother, Wayne Grogan; his niece, Misty Grogan; and his two nephews, Tony Grogan and Kris Greer.
Roger will forever be remembered for his peaceful spirit, his connection to his heritage, and the warmth he brought to the lives of those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Eric Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM prior to the service.
