Romeda Sue "Granny" Garland, age 72, of 374 Reece Hill Road, Mtn. City, Tennessee, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August, 27, 2014, following an extended illness. She was a native of Hampton, TN. She was born July 20, 1942, to the late Clyde Clark and Laura Lyons Clark. Romeda was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Her hobbies included cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also was a previous member of the Butler Chapter 218 of Order of Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by granddaughter Patricia Ann Burrell; son-in-law Dave Burrell; sister Jean Cable and brother Doyle Clark. Survivors include: Husband of 54 years, Robert "Bob" Garland; daughters: Kathy Burrell of Johnson City, TN and Ann Proffitt and husband Greg of Mountain City, TN; granddaughter and care giver Amanda Potter and husband Dwayne; grandchildren: Carrie and Billy Reece of Trade, TN. Nichole Proffitt, of Mountain City, TN; great grandchildren who were her world: Madison, Mason and MaKenna Potter; sisters: Rachel Harr and Deborah Stout; brothers: Rondal Stephens, Ralph Stevens, Dallas Clark and Danny Clark; step grandchildren: Kathy Beam and husband Ray and David Burrelll and wife Lisa. Special friends Georgia Nell Pierce, Leta Lewis, Lois Snyder and Sue Welch and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M Thursday, August 28, 2014, from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux Lipford Funeral Home with Reverend Chuck Morefield officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Dry Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dwayne Potter, Mason Potter, Billy Reece, Jonathan Walker, Junior Stevens and Coleman Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Snyder and Steve Hodge.
