Ronald V. Atwood, age 66, of 142 Airport Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 26, 2005. A native of Johnson County, he was born on May 17, 1938 to the late Ron and Nell Vaught Atwood. In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Potter and two infant twin brothers. He was a 1957 Graduate of Johnson County High School and was a mechanic at Maymead, where he had been employed since 1957. Ronald was also a member of the Johnson County Cruisers Car Club. He was an Army Veteran having served in Korea. Ronald was a pilot and loved to fly and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Ronald is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kaye Squibb Atwood, of the home; one sister, Drue Balderson and friend Lambert Wood; two brothers, Blake Atwood and wife JoAnn and Steve Atwood and fianc Anita Simcox; two nieces, Sheila Fenner and Tanya Huyard; great niece, Shea Elizabeth Huyard; two anuts, Pauline Davis of Knoxville, Tn and Betty Jones of Johnson City, Tn; special sister-in-law, Faye Squibb and a host of friends. Funeral Services for Ronald will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2005 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Norman and Rev. Ray Vaught to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Ben Simcox and Nan Vaught. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2005 from the Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Rev. Bill Worley and Rev. David Bentley to officiate. Active Pallbearers will be: Frank Tester, Ronnie Laws, Clint Robinson, Ernest Warren, Eric Huyard, Delmer Vaught, Melvin Huyard and Ben Simcox. Honorary Pallbearers are: Bud Mount, Maymead Shop Employees, Johnson County Cruisers Car Club, Dr. Raina Sluder, Dr. Peter Ashline, Dr. Howard Godwin and Tom Shull. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to Services, at the Church. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 142 Airport Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
