Ronald Gwen Greer

Raymond Gwen Greer, age 63, of 1356 Pleasant Valley Road, Mountain City, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Greer was a native of Boone, North Carolina and was born on October 6, 1940 to the late Frank William Greer and Docia Shelton Greer, of Creston, North Carolina. He worked in construction and was a member of Sutherland Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Greer was preceded in death by a sister, Freddie Jean Greer, and a brother, Roby Gene Greer. Survivors: In addition to his mother, Wife: Emma Sue Dunn Greer, of the home; (3) Daughters: Jenny Church, Mountain City, TN Cindy Dawn Greer, Marion, NC Ramona Greer, of the home; (1) Son: Charles Gwyn Greer, Cochranville, PA; (8) Sisters: Viginia Potter, Marion, NC; Nora Burleson, Marion, NC; Shirley Burleson, Marion, NC; Thelma Brown, Creston, NC; Mary Nell Johnson, Mountain City, TN; Wanda Roark, Creston, NC; Pauline McMahan, Oxford, PA; Joevelyn Cornett, Hickory, NC; (4) Brothers: Franklin Greer, Trade, TN; Tommy Greer, Creston, NC; Kenneth Greer, Creston, NC; Howard Greer, Oxford, PA; (2) Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services for Raymond Gwen Greer will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 14, 2003 at Sutherland Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Morefield to officiate. Burial will be in the Greer Family Cemetery, Creston, North Carolina. Pallbearers will be Kenneth "Oss" Greer, Jerry Johnson, Allen Shelton, Pete Greer, Dale Brown, John Greer, Kenneth "Fred" Greer, and Carl Greer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Thomas, Mark Greer, Shawn Issacs, and Joseph Greer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 13, 2003 at the Sutherland Missionary Baptist Church. Friends may also call at the mother's residence, 911 Sutherland Road, Creston, North Carolina, at any time.
