Rosa Irene Ward

April 3, 1925 — March 26, 2019

Rosa Irene Grindstaff Ward, age 93, passed away on March 26, 2019, at Mountain City Care Center. Rosa was born in Johnson County, Tennessee on April 3, 1925, to the late Dan and Lilly Grindstaff.  In addition to her parents, Rosa is preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, R.V. Ward in 1990; her son Billy Dwight Ward in 1995; sisters, Hazel and Ruth Grindstaff; brothers, Don, Bob and A.D. Grindstaff; nephew James Snyder.

Those left to cherish her memory are her Daughter-in-Law, Karen Gobble Ward; grandsons, Billy Dwight Ward II and Mark Alexander Ward and wife Dana; great-grandchildren, Mark Alexander Ward II and Natalie Claire Ward; nieces and nephews, Deana Shoun, Karen Cunningham, Carol Shores, Mary Joann Swift, Roy, David, and Richard Snyder, Danny, Joe, Jerry, and Benny Grindstaff, Joann Cutlup, Penny Vaught, Margaret Myers, Hal and Wayne Ward, and Bob Miller; several great nieces and nephews; special neighbors and friends including the members of Pine Grove Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary Post 6908.

What Granny loved most was working in her vegetable garden and canning the fruits of her labor, milking the cows, and just being outside.  Granny loved and watching game shows.  She enjoyed playing checkers, reading her Bible, ice cream, and the smell of roses, which were her favorite flower.

Services for Rosa will be held at 2pm on Friday, March 29, 2019, at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Neva, TN.  The family will receive friends from 12:30pm – 2pm prior to the service.  Internment will follow services at Mast Cemetery.  Rev. Mike Penley will officiate the services.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Grindstaff, Blake Grindstaff, Danny Grindstaff, Marvin Arney, Roy Hodge, Johnny Shull, Wayne Davis, and Bob Ward.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Cress, Dr. John Whitlock, Hal Ward, Wayne Ward, Bob Miller, Dick Snyder, Roy Snyder, and David Snyder.

Professional services are being provided by Hux & Lipford Funeral Home of Mt. City, TN.
