Ruby Simcox Snyder, age 92, of 997 Crackers Neck Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, she was born on March 15, 1912 to the late James and Mattie Matheson Simcox. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter, Angela Rambo. She had been employed by the Johnson County School System for several years and had been active in the School Parent Teachers Association (PTA). Ruby loved to quilt and work in her garden. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she was very active in the Women's Missionary Association. Ruby is survived by her husband of 73 years, Martin R. Snyder; three daughters, Peggy Leonard and husband Charles of Murfreesboro, Tn, Bobbie Westmoreland and husband Rick of Mountain City, Tn and Jean Rambo and husband Malcolm of Bluff City, Tn; one sister, Charlotte Palmer of Gray, Tn; one brother, Bill Simcox of Bristol, Va; two grandchildren, Mitzi Rambo-Mooberry and Marty Leonard; two great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Ruby will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Norman to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Nan Vaught. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Pleasant Grove Cemtery. Active Pallbearers will be: Rick Meredith, John Meredith, Marty Leonard, Lucas Mink, Joe Grindstaff, Steve Snyder and Larry Sndyer. Honorary Pallbearers are: Herman Timbs, Jackie Ward and Harvey Brown. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to Services at the Church. At other times, friends may call at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683 or to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
