Obituary for: Ruth Hodge Arney Ruth Hodge Arney, age 91, of 924 Medical Park Drive, Apt 304, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a brief illness. She was born February 18, 1922 to the late Andrew Hodge and Elizabeth Courtner Hodge in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Adam Arney in December, 1999. A daughter Jean Boyd, great grandchild Noah Arney, son-in-law Joe Barlow, three brothers Jim Hodge, Roscoe Hodge and Ed Hodge. She was a former owner of Mill Creek grocery and an employee of Arney's Grill. She enjoyed spending time with family, taking care of her loved ones and cooking. Ms. Arney was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters, Mona Barlow, Mountain City, Tennessee and Nancy Sullins and husband Bobby, Abingdon, Virginia; two sons, Thomas Bing Arney and wife JoAnne, Victorville, California and Phillip Gary Arney, and wife Jo Anne, Queen Creek, Arizona. Nine grandchildren: Jimmy Arney , Scott Arney, Lisa Arney, and Adam Arney, Kristy Griffin, Elena Combs, Kelly Odom, Willie Boyd and Kenny Boyd. Great grandchildren: Sophie Combs and Anna Combs, Paycen Odom, Kohanna Boyd, Jobe and Thatcher Arney, William and Estella Griffin, Alisa, Timothy, and Andrew Arney one great great grandson Jason Arney and one nephew Doug Hodge. Special family, Nancy and Charlie Greene, Mountain City, Tennessee. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Johnson County Funeral Home Heroes Chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Steven Spencer officiating. Music will be provided by Lindsay Debord. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in the Brown Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence, of her daughter, 1468 Cold Springs Rd, Mountain City, TN. Flowers are accepted or for those who wish memorial donations may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee.
