Ruth “Ruthie” Vanover Borror passed away the most peacefully on November 10, 2025, after a seven-year journey with dementia. She was born November 22, 1937, to Winston and Della Vanover in Mountain City, Tennessee. She was one of twelve children. She grew up with a robust understanding of family, love, and hard work. She was a homemaker and was well known for her gardening skills. She could grow the prettiest tomatoes and flowers. She was always excited for spring and preparation for planting.

She loved caring for the home, canning, cooking, and cleaning. She had a wealth of knowledge about gardening, farming, and livestock. No weeds were safe in her sight! Ruth was an excellent cook and hostess. She was always wanting to feed you, offer you something. No one will ever top her homemade chicken and dumplings. She was one of the kindest souls who loved the Lord and wanted to serve Him and take care of others. Ruth was a member of the Church of Christ and was a devoted Christian lady.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Della Vanover, husband, Guy Borror; her son-in-law Brad Reece, sisters Elizabeth Vanover, Bonnie Lewis, Lorene Embert, Vedie Pope, brothers, Jay Vanover, R.B. Vanover, and Robert Vanover.

Ruth is survived by her children, Betty Towles (Jimmy), Richard Wittenberg (Karen), Bonnie Wittenberg, Tina Reece Young (Marshall); grandchildren, Becky Morefield, Richard Wittenberg Jr (Sage), Kaylee Wittenberg (Jack), Gabe Reece, Gavin Reece, and Graham Reece; great grandchildren, Joe Morefield (Tonya), Anthony Morefield, Ritchie Wittenberg, Jensen Wittenberg, Winston Wittenberg, Great-great grandchildren, Jackson Morefield, Levi Morefield; sisters Lois Cox, Ferry (Spencer) Roark, and Ruby Oliver; brother Ralph Vanover and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center, the staff and Johnson County Community Hospital/ER, Johnson County Rescue Squad, and the Angels at Ballad Hospice House (especially: Karen, Alex, Betty, Pam, Jayne, Carolyn, Angela).
