Mrs. Ruth Clawson of Dickson, Tennessee passed away on April 3, 2008 at the age of 82 at the Dickson Health Care Center after a brief illness. She was born October 28, 1925 to the late David and Hattie Potter of Butler Tennessee. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Mountain City, Tennessee. Mrs. Clawson especially loved cooking for her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dayton Clawson; a daughter, Shirley Guy, of Butler, Tennessee; two brothers, Simon and James Potter, both of Elizabethton, Tennessee and one sister,Dorothy Scheidegger.
She is survived by four sisters: Eula Hatley of Hudson, North Carolina; Doris Potter of Mountain City, Tennessee; Betty Jenkins of Mountain City, Tennessee and Kathleen Hodges of Johnson City, Tennessee. She is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Lola Clawson, of Dickson, Tennessee and one daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Earl Dugger, of Butler, Tennessee. She leaves behind eight grandchildren: Bob Clawson of Columbia, Tennessee; Marvin Clawson, Jr. of Flintstone, Georgia; Brad Dugger of Hampton, Tennessee; Michael Dugger of Mountain City; Craig Dugger of Butler, Tennessee; Heather Hartley of Butler, Tennessee; Tammy Velasquez of Butler, Tennessee and Troy Guy of Butler, Tennessee. She also leaves behind thirteen great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008 with Rev. Doug Stidham officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service will be Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Clawson Cemetery in Butler, Tennessee at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Stidham officiating. Pallbearers will be chosen from members of the family.
