Ruth Grindstaff, age 78, of 996 Stout Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 9, 1926 in Johnson County, Tennessee to the late Clyde and Carrie Mae Morefield Proffitt. Ruth had retired from the Mountain City Glove Plant. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School for a number of years. Ruth is survived by her husband A.D. Grindstaff, of the home; two daughters, JoAnn Cutlip and husband Charles and Penny Vaught and husband Wayne; one son, Benny Grindstaff and wife Linda, all of Mountain City; three sisters: Gertrude Tester, Bertha Arnold, and Wilma Rymer, all of Mountain City; three grandchildren, Blake Grindstaff, Kim Head-Hampton and husband Donnie and Josh Vaught; three great grandchildren, Travis and Dakota Grindstaff and Logan Hampton; several nieces and nephews and special caregiver, Willie Dickens Funeral Services for Ruth Grindstaff will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2005 from the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Swift and Rev. Ron Owens to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Danny Grindstaff, Dean Stout, Junior Maze, Sam Cress, Billy Ward, Mark Ward and Pat Conville. Honorary Pallbearers are: Justin Grindstaff, Charles Walker, Fred Cox, Roy Bartlett, Larry Woodward, Dale Phillips, Jerry Grindstaff, Joe Grindstaff, Terry Matheson, Ernest Tester and Odel Guinn. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m., prior to Services at the Church. At other times friends may call at the residence 996 Stout Branch Road, Mountain City, Tn 37683.
