Ruth Absher Hollaway, age 83, of 570 Leason Gregg Road, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late E.O. Absher and Laura Owens Absher. Ms. Hollaway was a member of First Christian Church and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a "staple" at Arney's Grill having worked there for many years. Ruth loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include: one son: John Hollaway and Hazel Hollaway of the home; one sister: Dorothy Gentry of Mountain City, Tennessee; grandchildren: David Hollaway and wife Laura and Melissa Mahala and husband Jeff all of Mountain City, Tennessee; five great grandchildren: Jonathan Potter, Cody Mahala, Kayla Potter, Danielle Hollaway and Peyton Snyder; special friend Gladys Absher and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ruth Absher Hollaway will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2008 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Dwayne Dickson and Mr. Ken Caswell officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be men of First Christian Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Whitlock and Home Health Care and Hospice Staff.
